Assignments and Projects for EDUC8009

Playtime. Shot on Dec 4, 2024

An archive for EDUC8009’s weekly lab work in a jupyter flavor. Questions and solutions included.

Although I learned most of the material covered in the lecture decades ago while preparing for the SAT statistics, and I’m not really an SPSS person, the lab work in EDUC8009 has been the most efficient way for me to relieve weekly stress. It may sound strange, but I genuinely enjoy working with datasets that require no further preprocessing.

I appreciate both the assignments and the instructor. Along with the delightful outfits I wear after Wednesday every week, they have made my tough weeks more manageable.

Apology Letters / 检讨信

Family hour. Shot on Dec 22, 2024

No joking, writing killer apology letters was the most valuable skill I picked up during my PhD, courtesy of our amazing faculty.

I got so good at it that I’m thinking of sharing my collection from just the first semester (talk about a learning curve). Think of it as my contribution to future PhD students. So if you ever find yourself in a similar bind, feel free to borrow from my templates or get Claude to whip one up for you.

Whenever you’re stressing about writing that next apology email, just remember: there’s a whole community of us out there who’ve been in your shoes. You’re definitely not alone in this!

Wish you luck!

  • Sorry for Being a Solo Hero

Totally get now that group work was meant to teach collaboration skills, not just finish the nonsense project.

  • The Remote Access Oops

Saving the admin password on the root directory was the worst practice for any trained IT guys. But super poor judgment on my part as well. I determine to unplug the power cord for monitor and use RDP next time.

However I still love the username for the account I created, that’s the killer part of the whole story!
